Argentinian general (born 1926), he was member of the military junta ruling Argentina after the 1976 coup. In 1982 he ordered the invasion of the british Falkland islands (a.k.a. Malvinas), which caused war with Great Britain. The war ended with the british forces retaking the islands. The defeat was one of the main reason forcing general Galtieri and the military junta to resign in 1983.
