Deutsch: Bachlauf mit heißem Thermalwasser im Waimangu Volcanik Valley. Das 17 Kilometer lange Tal entstand 1886 während eines Vulkanausbruches. Es sollen etwa 22 Krater gleichzeitig ausgebrochen sein. Eine Reihe geothermalen Erscheinungen wie Kraterseen, heiße Quellen, Sinterterrassen, heiße Wasserläufe und Erdspalten mit austretenden Schwefeldämpfen sind heute als Folgen zu sehen. Der Thermalpark liegt nahe von Rotorua auf der Nordinsel Neuseelands.
English: Stream with hot thermal water in the Waimangu Volcanik Valley. The 17 kilometer long valley was created in 1886 during a volcanic eruption. About 22 craters are said to have erupted at the same time. A number of geothermal phenomena such as crater lakes, hot springs, sintered terraces, hot watercourses and crevices with escaping sulfur vapors can be seen as consequences today. The thermal park is located near Rotorua on the North Island of New Zealand. |
