Summary

"Dos à Dos -- Accidents in Quadrille Dancing", an 1817 caricature print engraved by George Cruikshank.

The man at center left has committed a mistake in his dance steps, and the woman at center right seems none too pleased. For viewers of the 1995 TV miniseries of Pride and Prejudice, the caption "Other way, Mr. Collins!" suggests itself...

The musicians are in the gallery above.

By an old caricaturist's trick, the women's skirts are shown much shorter than they would have been in reality (hemlines were actually almost never higher than an inch or two above the ankle).
