Summary

Description
English: Launch of Ariane 1, flight V14, from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana, on 2 July 1985, carrying the Giotto spacecraft, ESA's first deep-space mission. In 1986, ESA's Giotto passed closest to the nucleus of Comet Halley and revealed the first evidence of organic material in a comet.
