English: Armoured personnel carriers, Eriboll. Decommissioned army vehicles above Eriboll. They were easily spotted from the hill, as some white interior space was visible, and even the camouflage is reflective.
Every Spring and Autumn there are big military exercises in the Durness area and they generally make the news due to conflict with various local interests. (setting fire to Parph last year, interference with a fishing vessel this time). Loch Eriboll had reverted to being Loch 'Orrible again, with two naval vessels in the loch. Royal Marines had a radio post in the woods at Arnaboll, their position given away by a civilian white van - you could hardly see the military equipment until almost tripping over it. Most of the action takes place on the Parph, where there is a live firing range. 497425
