Garrod was the first woman to do research on Paleolithic humans, first woman to hold a professorship at Cambridge University, and co-leader of an important archeological exploration of Mount Carmel during the mid-1930s. This photograph was taken by Fremont Davis at the International Symposium on Early Man, Philadelphia, March 1937."
