DescriptionBuses on the Portland Mall in 1988, on 5th north of Wash. St.jpg
Buses on the Portland Mall in 1988, southbound on 5th Avenue between Stark Street and Washington Street. Closest is bus 726, a 1981 Crown-Ikarus articulated bus headed for King City on line 12-Barbur. In the background is bus 914, a 1982 GM "RTS" in service on line 10-Harold. The mall closed in January 2007 for rebuilding and addition of MAX tracks, and the two-lane configuration seen here was replaced by a three-lane one with private vehicles permitted in the lefthand lane. The shelters at the bus stops were replaced by new ones that provide much less protection from the elements.
