A chart of the top reported ancestries in the United States, as provided by the 2000 census. Shaded color represents the largest number of respondents (a plurality) from sample. Areas with the largest "American" ancestry populations were mostly settled by some English, French, Welsh, Scottish and Irish; but by an overwhelming majority of Scots-Irish.
