English: FIRST BRIDGE WAS ERECTED IN 1745 AND WAS A STRATEGIC CROSSING DURING THE REVOLUTION AND WAS USED BY WASHINGTON’S ARMY DURING THE 1776 RETREAT. THE WOODEN BRIDGE WAS REPLACED IN 1888 BY THIS IRON SWING-BRIDGE, NOW THE OLDEST SUCH BRIDGE OF ITS KIND IN NEW JERSEY. THIS BRIDGE IS ALSO LOCATED IN THE NEW BRIDGE LANDING PARK
