English: Athens, Theatre of Dionysus. In the background is the throne of the eponymous archon. The inscription on the the throne (IG II2 3700C: Greek text) is dedicated to a Roman citizen, Marcus Ulpius, and to his two sons, in recognition of their charitable works during a time of famine in the 3rd century A.D. The inscribed base next to the throne (IG II2 3287C: Greek text) supported a statue of the Roman emperor Hadrian.
