Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Finn M. W. Caspersen |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | For visual identification of the person in question, at the top of his biographical article, permissible under WP:NFCI #10: "Pictures of deceased persons, in articles about that person, provided that ever obtaining a free close substitute is not reasonably likely". There are only a few images of Caspersen that could be found online, and this image both most accurately portrays Caspersen's appearance, and seems to have been used by most newspapers covering his death, funeral, and aftermath. |
Not replaceable with free media because (WP:NFCC#1) |
Caspersen died in 2009. After searching through the various images available online through Google images, some news service photo archives, and other image databases, I could not locate known free images. There are not many images available of Caspersen either online or in print. I was able to find four, this one, an equestrian photo that was too small to identify him sufficiently, and two older images from the 1980s. The image used in this article which was taken from an article in the Harvard Law School Bulletin after the successful conclusion of a fundraising campaign that caspersen chaired. After his death, it was used in almost all the newspapers that covered his death, funeral, and aftermath, including the Vanity Fair piece used as a source for this article. It can therefore be considered the primary identifiable image of Caspersen. I do not know of any contacts for individuals willing to release an alternative free image and have been unsuccessful in identifying such persons or representatives. I assert that WP:NFCI #10 "Pictures of deceased persons, in articles about that person, provided that ever obtaining a free close substitute is not reasonably likely" applies here. |
Minimal use (WP:NFCC#3) | Intended for use only on Finn M. W. Caspersen for the purpose stated above. |
Respect for commercial opportunities (WP:NFCC#2) |
Informational use only to visually identify the deceased subject at biography, image is lower resolution than original photograph. |
Other information | The subject of the photograph has been deceased since 7 September 2009 |
