Notes Identidad discutida. Folke Nordström (1920-1997) identifica al retratado como Francesco Sabatini, mientras que para José Gudiol y Jordan se trata del mismo individuo que aparece tras Floridablanca en el retrato que Goya pintó del conde en 1793 (262 x 166 cm), Banco de España, Madrid. Otros, como Luna, especulan con que sea, bien un secretario del ministro, bien un individuo que cumpliese varias funciones dentro de la Corte, como por ejemplo la de maestro de esgrima (ref.: catálogo de la Fundación Goya en Aragón: «Hombre con espada».
