Summary

Description
English: The active site asparagine residue (bonds in green) cycles, assisted by other active site residues, and nucleophilically attacks (blue arrow) its carbonyl peptide bond with the adjacent residue, forming a succimide and breaking the propeptide in two halves. New bonds are indicated with a darker green, the asparagine alfa-carbon is indicated in green and the alfa-carbon of the adjacent residues in black. Rs indicate the adjacent residues side chains.
