| Description |
English: Barn swallow (Hirundo rustica rustica) juvenile at the Ormož Basins nature reserve, Slovenia. Taken during a period when the storm Boris blocked migration routes, and low temperatures left the swallows struggling to find prey and stay warm in that area. This one was visibly weak, and one dead swallow was found nearby. Nevertheless, it had just caught a moth, with remains visible around the beak, and its scales on the face.
Slovenščina: Mladič kmečke lastovke (Hirundo rustica rustica) v naravnem rezervatu Ormoške lagune. Fotografiran v času, ko je ciklon Boris prekinil selitvene poti lastovk, ki so zaradi nizkih temperatur na tem območju s težavo našle plen in vzdrževale telesno temperaturo. Mladič na sliki je bil vidno šibak in v bližini je bila ena poginula lastovka na tleh. Je pa pravkar ujel veščo, njeni ostanki so vidni na kljunu in luske po obrazu.
Italiano: Un giovane esemplare di rondine comune europea (Hirundo rustica rustica) nella riserva naturale del lago Ormož, in Slovenia. La fotografia è stata scattata durante il periodo nel quale la tempesta Boris ha temporaneamente interrotto le rotte migratorie e il conseguente abbassamento delle temperature ha ridotto la disponibilità delle prede e aumentato le difficoltà per gli animali selvatici di mantenersi al caldo. La rondine nella foto aveva appena catturato una falena, i cui resti sono visibili attorno al becco e sulle piume del muso. |
