Born and bred in the South, John Denver Hore was Otago's first home grown Country music superstar. He rose to prominence through the power of reality television, getting his break on the show 'Have A Shot!' Recording under John Hore, John Denver Hore, John Hore Grenell, and later John Grenell, his unprecedented and enduring popularity helped to popularise country music in New Zealand. He sold records in Australia and the USA, appearing on the legendary Grand Ole Opry and once held the top 5 places on Invercargill radio station 4ZA’s Top 10 chart.
