Description
English: Jeanne de Saint-Remy de Valois, Countess de la Motte (1756 - 1791), was infamous for her involvement in the 'Affair of the Diamond Necklace', the scandal which contributed to the downfall of the French monarchy - Napoleon once remarked, 'The Queen's death must be dated from the Diamond Necklace Trial'. The countess died two months later from her injuries and was buried in the churchyard of St. Mary's. 18th century
