English: The gun is identified as the 24 cm MRK L/25.5 by the original English caption 9 inch (18 tons) gun mounted on coast carriage.

The 24 cm MRK L/25.5 was a prototype gun that was tested in Meppen in 1879. This included a succesful test against a target consisting of two armor plates of 30.5 and 20.5 cm with a 5 cm layer of wood in between. The target was to the right of the target that is visible in the background.

De 24 cm MRK L/25.5 was een prototype dat in 1879 in Meppen getest werd. Deze test omvatte ook de beschieting van een gepantserd doel bestaande uit twee platen van 30.5 en 20.5 cm met een houten tussenlaag van 5 cm. Dit doel bevond zich rechts van het doel dat zichtbaar is in de achtergrond.
