Interior of the former Municipal Buildings (now the Central Library), Leeds, West Yorkshire, England, built 1879-1884 to the design of George Corson.

The general interior carving was executed by a team led by John Wormald Appleyard. The alabaster arch in the main entrance was made by Farmer & Brindley of London, and the reading room (now cafe) medallions were carved by Benjamin Creswick. George Wilson made the leaded clerestory windows of the original reference library, and Powell Bros made the rest of the stained glass and leaded lights. Doulton supplied the terracotta tiles in what is now (2019) the art library. Ceramic wall and floor tiles were supplied by E. Smith of Coalville, Leicester, and J. Taylor of Leeds. Curtis & Son made the bookcases and mirror screens in the gallery of the original reference library (as of 2019 the family history department). Jones of Manchester made the wrought-iron gates and railings outside, but Smith & Sons of Birmingham made the entrance gates, interior grilles and original door furniture (only a few of these last items remain). The interior was originally decoratively painted, in gold and colours, by J.T. Pollard of Leeds.
