Description

K 626, Requiem mass in D minor, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Austrian National Library, Codex 17561b, folio 87/33 (recto).

Lacrymosa, bars 1-5, scored for 2 violins, viola, SATB chorus, and continuo bass.

Written the hand of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, aside from the posthumous addition to the manuscript by Georg Nikolaus Nissen (the text added in the top-right hand corner, in the margin and overlapping the top stave).

This page is not actually the last page of the manuscript; either the following page, folio 87/33 (verso) or folio 99/45 (recto) are thought to be the last pages Mozart inscribed, depending on whether Mozart composed the Lacrymosa or Hostias last. The Hostias is complete to the end, whereas the Lacrymosa breaks off after 8 bars.
