The seal of the NYC Board of Education, c.1955, on the facade of the Asher Levy Campus at 185 First Avenue on the full block between East 11th and 12th Streets in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. The building houses P.S. 19 and the Technology, Arts, and Sciences Studio middle school, M301. The Board of Education was once semi-independent from city government and ran the school system.
