English: A sculpture of Norman MacKenzie who was the president of UBC in Vancouver, Canada from 1944 to 1962. This sculpture commemorates his service and his desire "to discover [one] self and the world, desire to render service to others, will to conquer the new, the novel, the unknown." This sculpture appears to have been erected on September 3, 1979 and is permanently situated on the Vancouver campus of UBC where President MacKenzie served as this institution's head for 18 years. He later became a Canadian senator and a member of the Order of Canada. He passed away in 1986.
