ObservationCycle.png (336 × 332 pixels, file size: 10 KB, MIME type: image/png)

Summary

This diagram image could be re-created using vector graphics as an SVG file. This has several advantages; see Commons:Media for cleanup for more information. If an SVG form of this image is available, please upload it and afterwards replace this template with {{vector version available|new image name}}.

It is recommended to name the SVG file “ObservationCycle.svg”—then the template Vector version available (or Vva) does not need the new image name parameter.
Description
English: The observation cycle, including model-selection, by which our idea-codes adapt to the world around.

This likely starts with observation (the top left vertex), but may circle the loop clockwise many times as the ideas by which we model and predict outcomes are refined (when that is possible) over time.

Note that the two vertices on the left hand side primarily involve interaction with the world around (i.e. the way things are), while the three vertices on the right hand side primarily involve our ways to conceptualize that world (i.e. our scheme of things).
