Summary

Description Postcard photo of the first trip of the "Painted Train" on the narrow gauge Durango and Silverton Railroad in Colorado. The painted train was an effort to promote the line for tourism which was successful enough to continue today.

Author While the first "painted train" trip took place in 1950, it appears that the railroad offered these postcards to those riding the train from that point to promote their service.
