English: The Mayor of Gateshead lays the foundation stone to begin work on expanding Sheriff Hill Isolation Hospital. Once the work was completed (delayed during WW2), the new hospital was called the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital. It is the largest hospital in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear
