Description
English: Queen Emma is wearing multiple strands of Niʻihau shells wrapped about her neck in this formal portrait. More than any other member of the Hawaiian royalty, she had a great appreciation for the traditional arts. She was an avid collector, thus encouraging their continued production. She took a particular interest in lei pūpū ʻo Niʻihau.
