English: This tree is estimated to be more than 200 years old. The bark is pealing in strips from the bottom edge as is typical of this species and Shagbark Hickory (Carya ovata). The leaves that can be seen in this photo are large usually with 7 (sometimes 9) leaflets per leaf, as is typical for the species. Shagbark Hickories, a close relative, typically have smaller leaves with five leaflets per leaf.
