English: Down 'Thames-Clyde Express' entering Skipton Station.
View eastward, towards Keighley, Leeds, Bradford etc.; ex-Midland London/Bristol - Sheffield - Leeds - Carlisle main line. The line from Otley and Ilkley (with a branch from Grassington, closed in 1930) used to come in from the left crossing the main line just beyond the end of the train, but closed on 22/3/65, though it still carries freight traffic); at the other side of the station a line branched off to Colne and this was closed on 2/2/70. In the distance are Skipton Moor and Rombalds Moor. The 'Thames-Clyde Express' had left London St Pancras at 10.15 and reached Glasgow St Enoch via Carlisle and Dumfries at 19.45. Here it is headed by BR Britannia Pacific No. 70044 'Earl Haig'.
