English: Several common and uncommon tanto profiles with cross sections at various key locations.
The general blade shape is based on an approximately 25 cm long, 17 mm wide (near the tang), approximately straight hira style blade forged in the early 14th century. This common profile was chosen to allow for easy comparison between styles. The particular shapes of the edges are based on appropriate historical examples.
Again, for ease of comparison, most of the cross-sections are 8.0 mm near the tang (a fairly typical width) arbitrarily tapering to about 80% of this value near the tip.
Actual historical examples would vary in length, width, thickness and curvature.
The hira and kiriha sides of the katakiriha blade have been swapped to allow the tip to point consistently to the left while still showing the chisel like side.
