Summary

Description
English: The Gladstone located at 1423 R Street, NW in the Logan Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The Queen Anne/Romanesque Revival building was designed by noted architect George S. Cooper and built in 1900. It was named after William Ewart Gladstone, former Prime Minister of Great Britain. Located next door is the Gladstone's "twin", the Hawarden, built in 1901 and named after a country estate owned by William Ewart Gladstone. Both buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places and are contributing properties to the Greater Fourteenth Street Historic District.
