ID#: 3784 Description: Note the fine branching tubes of the fungus Exserohilum rostratum, which is the cause of Phaeohyphomycosis.

Phaeohyphomycosis is a fungal infection characterized by superficial and deep tissue involvement caused by dematiaceous, dark-walled fungi that form pigmented hyphae, or fine branching tubes, and yeastlike cells in the infected tissues.
