English: Half-length, three-quarter position portrait of the captain as a young man in his early forties. He is shown half-length, seated in three-quarter position wearing a ruffled jabot, and dark suit with brass buttons; on his waistcoat is prominently displayed the bald eagle of the Order of the Cincinnati.
