English: Contrasts in freight trains at York Racecourse Station.
View SW, from the Racecourse Station - only open on Race Days, and to railway enthusiasts (!) - towards Leeds, Sheffield, Doncaster and generally west and south; ex-North Eastern East Coast Main Line on the southern approaches to York. Here there were six running lines between Dringhouses Yard - a mile to the south - and Holgate Junction (behind camera), also four Holgate Reception lines over to the right - one being visible here with a train. The LMS Ivatt 4MT 2-6-0 (No. 43044) on a Down Class F freight is overtaking a Class 5 freight hauled by a Brush Type 4 Diesel (later Class 47) No. D1521, both bound for York Yards.
