Use in article (WP:NFCC#7) | Magical Mystery Tour |
Purpose of use in article (WP:NFCC#8) | The image serves as an example of the unusually lavish packaging used for the Beatles' 1967 soundtrack EP Magical Mystery Tour. It depicts the band members dancing in a scene for their song "Your Mother Should Know", and its inclusion in the record's booklet was one of the clues identified by proponents of the Paul is Dead conspiracy – specifically, that Paul McCartney wears a black carnation on his white tuxedo while his bandmates all sport red carnations. As stated in the article also, the scrutiny surrounding this and other images in the artwork resulted in the record re-entering the Billboard chart in 1969, two years after its release. The contrast between the black and red carnations was also cited by John Lennon as an attempt by McCartney to mark himself as different from the rest of the Beatles at a time when he had assumed de facto leadership of the group following the death of their manager, Brian Epstein, shortly before production began on Magical Mystery Tour. |
