The Darbukha is an Egyption drum. The name Darbukha is made out of two words : Darbu (hit him\it) and Kha (the sound that you get out of hitting it. The Darbukha has spread first to the arab world all the way to northern Africa and then to other "oryental" countries such as Greece and Turkey. The drumming technique is unique to each country.
