Normally we delete an image, once it has been moved to commons, but...

[edit]

Only after I moved what was then the latest version of this image to commons did I realize that uploader SPKx had uploaded a brand new image over top of an earlier image. Although the new image showed the theatre more clearly than the night shot it was uploaded over, the earlier image captured the period when the theatre was boarded up.

I thought both images needed to be uploaded to commons.

I found that not only were the images different, different photographers, but they were published under different licenses.

I think this means that, although we normally delete an image, once it has been moved to commons, in this particular case the history needs to be preserved. If it is deleted the attribution and licensing of the earlier image is obfuscated. Geo Swan (talk) 13:41, 22 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Both files are now on Commons. Miniapolis 13:55, 7 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
