as luck would have it, this photo is also today's Astronomy Picture of the Day. the open water beneath the ISS is the Caspian Sea. [1] --G0zer 09:43, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is the Southern end of the Caspian Sea. The river coming from the left seems to be Atrek. --User:Kverneland 12:09, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is the northern end of the Caspian Sea. The top edge of the picture points Southeast. The River visible to the left of the ISS is the Ural. -- Anon
