Nice work!
Is it the map of the official languages of the states, or is it the map of the languages that the common populations spoke? СЛУЖБА (talk) 20:30, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
No Berber Languages???
[edit]Just arabic but not berber spoken in islamic spain, even when berbers played important roles in islamic spanish history up until being ruled with berber monarchs.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 137.207.34.197 (talk) 02:28, 23 October 2014 (UTC)
accuracy re: boundaries, etc.
[edit]i'm not clear how these "language boundaries" are being drawn?
what is the sourcing info?
2 things that particularly "bother" me:
i. the definition of the basque region; it shrinks over most of the time intervals, then "magically" enlarges significantly (as a mixed-language region) in the space between 1900 & 2000?
ii. up in the top right corner of the map, there is a little "dishonesty" going on, over the franco-german language boundary.
for the entire 1000 yr cycle, the boundary stays exactly the same EXCEPT for a brief german "surge" @ 1900, which is erased in 2000 (presumably reflecting the german-french border changes resulting from the franco-prussian war, then ww1, & 2).
this mapping does not accurately reflect the linguistic state/composition of the alsace-lorraine region over the course of that millenium!
yes, that area is not the primary focus of the map; BUT since the map does show the area, & does show changes in that area, the data should be ACCURATE.

Cool, but frustrating
[edit]Very cool, excellent use of animation to illustrate a process.
But I find the packaging as an animated GIF frustrating. You probably don't come in at the beginning, and you can't pause the animation. Any home of getting the animation in a video format?--Isaac Rabinovitch (talk) 23:32, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Poor cropping of title
[edit]The title of the map has been damaged in the cropping. I see why the map needed to be cropped, but it's ben crudely done through the words. They should be moved fully into view, or removed altogether. 81.152.0.109 (talk) 18:15, 26 July 2014 (UTC)
- I came on here to say the same thing, I agree the map needed to be cropped, but the words need to be repositioned or removed. Abrahamic Faiths (talk) 23:41, 11 December 2014 (UTC)
Sardinia being cut off from the map
[edit]I don't know why Sardinia has been removed from the most recent version of the map, especially if we consider that the island had been part of Spain for a couple of centuries and a variety of Catalan is also spoken there.Dk1919 (talk) 15:53, 19 April 2018 (UTC)
