I have to admit I am sad to see this picture taken from my website. The original cabinet photograph was purchased by me and then repaired and improved by me in Photoshop (the latter I believe makes it a new image in the UK - in any case the 'illegal' is ridiculous and I'd love to know in what way and to whom I could be reported).
I'm more annoyed at not being asked permission than anything. It makes me reluctant to post the rest of my collection, if it's only going to be taken by Wikipedia - I imagine other websites such as the brilliant Footlight Notes must feel the same way. -- Special:Contributions/86.153.28.23
- I apologize for the hasty conclusion about illegality. Given that you are claiming UK copyright, I should not have made that statement. Four minutes after I made that statement, I revised the image summary to delete that characterization. I hope you can forgive the error. Wikipedia is a non-profit educational project to provide a free encyclopedia that anyone can use throughout the world. I believe that the article about William Terriss on Wikipedia is the best article about him accessible on the internet, and the image is a helpful illustration. If you are interested in Bill Terriss (or his family), I hope that you can share my pleasure in being able to make information about this all-but-forgotten actor more easily available to the public.
