Characters

Olivia Whitehead- A shy, emotionless, isolated girl who leads the front vocals for the band, Olivia struggles with her life after her mother left when she was just a baby, her father was convinced of armed robbery and manslaughter, and she was left to live with her grandmother. A bookworm, Olivia is often nervouse and is reluctant to sing in a band because she lacks confidence before the band forms. Ever since a little girl, Olivia never thought she had a pretty voice, because her's is low, thin and scratchy just like her father's. She is described as being over-weight with flat, shapeless, greasy hair and solemn brown eyes, which grow into a light yellow color whenever she is happy. Besides her singing ability, Olivia plays the accordion and writes songs for the band about her personal struggles and how she had learned to over-come them with all the help, love and support that her friends give her. Stella's favorite is "Skinny Nancy" which was written after Olivia's oldest of her thirteen cats Nancy, who later dies. Olivia is nick-named the "insane asylum" by Ray Beech. She is very vulnerable to Ray Beech's endless insults. When Olivia gets panick attacks she either throws-up or starts taking short rapid breaths. Olivia was born a Virgo after mother and father met at a high school party. Before going to Opequonsett High, Olivia went to St. Micheal's in Pawtucket, an alternative school where they send kids that don't fit in some place else so they could get an education "with out walls." But Olivia becomes back among the walls for the fist time in her life when her grandmother told her the past July that they could not afford the tutution anymore for her to have an education with no walls. She has a monster crush on Wen but won't admit it. Olivia's father, Ted Whitehead, named her after a character from Shakespeare's play Twelfth Night

Wendel "Wen" Gifford- A laid-back, cool, funny guy, Wen is struggling with the fact his father will be marrying a much younger woman, Sydney. He feels she wants to take the role of his mom. Wen plays the trumpet for the band. He is nick-named "Woody the Horn Dog" by Ray Beech. He's described as having blonde hair that falls to his eyes and black rectangular-framed glasses. He lost his two best friends Azra Quimby and Floey Packer the past year because he asked Azra out and everything got uncomfortable between them. He later moves on and starts having some curiosity for Olivia and her shy nature. He later on discovers he has a strong love for Olivia and thinks of her more than just his best friend.

Stella Penn- A loud, hyper firecracker born in Arizona, Stella is reluctant to move to a small town half-way across the country because of her mother's new job. She goes to detention to rebel against her parents. She is described as "really tall." Early on in the book, Stella chops all of her hair off in a fit of anger and rage and later dyes it green. It is mentioned at the end of the book that she has dyslexia. Stella has been a vegetarian since the eigth grade. At school, Stella swaps her electric guitar for an electric ukulele. Stella was first to beleive into making the band, and was the creator of the band's name when she spits her lemonade in Ray Beech's face when she catches him harassing Olivia and threatening to hurt Charlie.

Mohini "Mo" Banerjee- A gentle-natured good girl, "Mo" finds herself socialy inept and under the thumb of her super strict father. She lies to her family while dating Scott Pickett. She plays stand-up bass for the band. She is from Calcutta, the land of arranged marrage. She is discribed as haivng long, black hair, brown eyes and brown skin. Mo is cursed with being the only Indian girl at school and no matter where she goes, she can't be a regular American teenager or a genuine Indian, therefor, making her homelife and school time very complicated. She has a "Grand Plan" to graduate high school with straight A's at the top of her class, maybe even a semester early, go to medical school where she would play classical bass in the student orchestra, and then marry a Bengali doctor, lawyer or maybe even a college professor. She takes her time on the weekends voluteering at the Opequonsett Medical Clinic too. Mo eventually grows into having romantic feelings for her heartthrob drummer and best friend Charlie, but at the end, they kiss under an umbrella in a heavy downpoor of rain.

Charlie Hirsh- Since his recent birthday, Charlie finds himself struggling with a big twist of fate that allowed him to be alive instead of his still-born twin brother Aaron. He has a monster crush on Mo and is worse in the world at making decisions, so he tosses a coin. Charlie plays the congas, bongos and timbales for the band. He has a gentle and shy nature that doesn't help too much when you're about to get beaten up, but he definetly doesn't take abuse and is more than willing to stick up for himself and for his friends. He is said to be a heavy-set with and "overgrown mop of frizz" for hair. Despite all these things that make him a sweet person, Charlie is misunderstood by his peers. After his first performance at the Halloween Bash, a bunch of girls starts to talk to him, and therefor, making him Opequonsett High's new heartthrob. He is nick-named "Buffalo Boy" by Ray Beech.

Naomi Fishmeir- Mo's loyal and wise best friend who gives Mo good advice. Naomi complies the story and narrates one part. She writes articals about Lemonade Mouth and even starts a call-in advertisement to get them on the band list at Catch A Ri-Zing Star. She is said to have glasses with the biggest lenses ever seen. Naomi writes for the school newspaper office Barking Clam and liscensed herself as the OHS "Scene Queen."

Lyle Dwarkin- Charlie's tiny, nerdy best friend with an acne problem. Lyle was elected as Treasurer by the A.V Club, which has to be the geekiest of all extra activities the high school has to offer. This means Charlie's buddy is practically High Priest of the Weirdos. Lyle plans advertisements for Lemonade Mouth by selling CDs, posters and T-shirts. Lyle also works the soundboard for Lemonade Mouth's performance at the Halloween Bash.

Ray Beech- A mean jerk who hates on Lemonade Mouth, Ray is part of super star local rival rock and role band Mudslide Crush, a band that everyone seems to bend down to worship. He mocks Stella, abuses Charlie and harasses Olivia. He is said to be a "giant toad of a guy." He has a name for everyone in the whole school, and even nick- names the vice principal "But-Wip Brenigan."

Patty Norris- A snobby Mudslide Crusher, Patty is involved with harassing Olivia. She is portrayed as being shallow and vain. She is described as having having long, red hair, perfect skin, spooky green eyes and a horse-whynning snicker.

Patty Keane- Another snobby Mudslide Crusher, Patty is involved with harassing Olivia because she is shown stroking the back of Olivia's head and saying, "And girl how do you get these lovely locks to hang this way? I think the dead fish look is so in don't you? What shampoo do you use?" It is unknown what hair color Patty has, but like Patty Norris, Patty is portrayed as shallow and vain.

Scott Pickett- The drummer for Mudslide Crush, Scott dated Mo but they wound up breaking off the relationship because Mo cought him making out with his ex-girlfriend Lynn Westerberg, breaking Mo's heart. He is the cute soccer jock who is tall with spiky blonde hair.

Mr. Brenigan- A strict vice principal who runs a tight ship and beleives that Opequonsett High should be all about sports and moves all extra activities to the basement of the high school. He goes as far as taking the Mel's Organic Frozen Lemonade machine away.

Aaron Jacob Hirsh- Charlie's dead twin brother. Charlie pictures his brother as being cool and smooth. He arives in Charlie's head when he attempts to talk to Mo or any other girl. He also arives in Charlie's dreams as well. Charlie claims that Aaron could be a real pain in the butt.

Mrs. Reznick- The music teacher, Mrs. Reznick has to be Lemonade Mouth's biggest fan. She's the one who persuades Charlie, Olivia, Stella, Wen and Mo to form a band. She gives Mo private bass lesons as an independent study. She is said to be tiny with a big mop of brown hair. The school board tried to force her into retirement for years but couldn't get rid of her because she can reduce kids to tears with just one look and scares the pee out of everyone.
