The result is: Óscar Fernández González is moved to Óscar Fernández (footballer, born 1995), and Óscar Fernández Monroy to Óscar Fernández (Mexican footballer). After much-extended time for discussion, there is a clear consensus that the current titles should be changed, and an absence of clear consensus as to the appropriate move targets. There is no reason to expect that further discussion will un-knot the latter morass. The potential ambiguity of "Spanish" as a national disambiguator for one subject favors a date disambiguator for that subject. BD2412 T 05:37, 20 December 2020 (UTC)
- Óscar Fernández González → Óscar Fernández (footballer, born 1995)
- Óscar Fernández Monroy → Óscar Fernández (footballer, born 1987)
– WP:COMMONNAME for both footballers is just "Óscar Fernández" without maternal surname. Disambiguate to standard for footballers.
Sources for first footballer: 1, 2, 3, 4, [https://www.adalcorcon.com/noticia/oscar-fernandez-ficha-por-la-a-d-alcorcon-y-jugara-cedido-en-el-cf-fuenlabrada-la-proxima-temporada 5 - pretty much all.
For second footballer: 1, 2, 3, 4. Ortizesp (talk) 14:19, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Support per nomination. No maternal surnames. —Roman Spinner (talk • contribs) 23:02, 4 November 2020 (UTC)
- Oppose. Per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (people)#Disambiguating: "Years of birth and death are not normally used as disambiguators (readers are more likely to be seeking this information than to already know it)". Years of birth are only used when there is no other reasonable disambiguator, such as when people of the same name have the same profession and nationality. Nationality is a standard disambiguator for soccer players per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer). Searchers are more likely to know the nationality rather than the maternal surname or birth year. DrKay (talk) 08:22, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Also Support the alternative, Óscar Fernández González → Óscar Fernández (Spanish footballer), Óscar Fernández Monroy → Óscar Fernández (Mexican footballer).--Ortizesp (talk) 14:55, 5 November 2020 (UTC)
- Note: This discussion has been included in WikiProject Football's list of association football-related page moves. GiantSnowman 15:24, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Support per original nomination; despite what DrKay continue to repeatedly, falsely claim about Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer) (which in any event places year of birth on equal footing with nationality and position as possible options), in practice standard disambiguation for footballers is year of birth. I see no reason as to why these articles should be any different. GiantSnowman 15:27, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Stop harassing me please. You were warned before about personal attacks and making another one is beyond the pale. There is nowhere, literally nowhere, on this page that I have made any false claim about Wikipedia:Naming conventions (sportspeople)#Association football (soccer). DrKay (talk) 17:42, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
- Weak support this one only. There's another Spanish footballer at the disambiguation page Óscar Fernández. It's a redlink and a minor MOS:DAB infraction, but it is linked from two mainspace articles. The Spanish Óscar Fernández (football manager) was apparently never a player, but that's unusual enough in the footballing world that there's potential for confusion. I support moving Óscar Fernández Monroy to Óscar Fernández (Mexican footballer) as the most WP:NCPDAB-compliant option, with no other Mexican footballers to disambiguate against. --BDD (talk) 20:14, 30 November 2020 (UTC)
