Öchsle scale

[edit]

1 l water at 20 °C weighs 998 g (and not 1000g) according to water. This leads to a difference of 2 °Ö. How is this discrepancy explained/Which definition of the Öchsle scale is correct? Gotox 21:37, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mostgewicht

[edit]

I doubt that "spezifisches Gewicht" used to be an alternative term for "Dichte". "Spezifisches Gewicht" was and is the same as "relative Dichte" (relative density), which is a ratio of two densities. Degree Öchsle are determined as a difference of two densities. The term "Mostgewicht" may have been coined in loose analogy. Gotox 21:55, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
