No consensus to move. Vegaswikian (talk) 22:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
Andres Artunedo → Andrés Artuñedo – There was no consensus regarding the use of diacritics, so this article should use the diacritics until a consensus is reached. See also: Talk:Mate Pavić.
PL Alvarez Talk, 07:58, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose - As per the ATP and ITF tennis organizations, and the French Open, the player's English sourced name is Andres Artunedo. See also Talk:Marek Zidlicky and Talk:Galina Fokina. Fyunck(click) (talk) 08:30, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose. The Independent gives the subject's name as Andres Artunedo Martinavarr. So do BBC and ATP. I say move him there. Kauffner (talk) 12:23, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose There is no discussion on diacritics on this talk page, so nominator's rationale is superfluous, so this move is missing a rationale. 65.94.77.11 (talk) 06:09, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- Oppose: The proposed page move is contrary to the established Wiki-policies of WP:UE, WP:COMMONNAME, and WP:RS. Dolovis (talk) 03:33, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Are there any other BLPs on WP where Andrés has been deaccented (other than by change of citizenship)? In ictu oculi (talk) 14:13, 26 March 2012 (UTC)

– Reasons for giving Spanish living people their Spanish names (i-v, vii) per the 4 Brazilian names under Talk:Andre Miele. (vi) Specifics: MOS "consistent with related articles" to bring Andrés Artuñedo, Didac Pérez, Ángel Giménez, Sergi Durán in line with the dozens of Spanish-speaking Andrés, Pérez, Giménez and Duráns on en.wp. As for Andrés Artuñedo having been mentioned by bbc.co.uk/news/ with no accent, see forthcoming RM to move Charlotte Brontë → Charlotte Bronte per BBC NEWS "Unpublished Charlotte Bronte (sic) manuscript sells for £690,850" ;) Additional problems caused by ITF online registration errors adding hyphenated -maternal names not used in interviews, profiles: so Marc Fornell-Mestres, Óscar Burrieza-Lopez, Pablo Carreño-Busta to have -maternal names removed, but Sergio Gutiérrez Ferrol really is Sergio Gutiérrez Ferrol, just without the hyp-hen. Pepe Imaz known as Pepe Imaz. In ictu oculi (talk) 13:45, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- ...as a footnote not worth inclusion in the above, but relevant to WP:USEENGLISH which has "Tomás Ó Fiaich, not Tomas O'Fiaich" to say about diacritric-removal, this prompts a note that category:Irish female tennis players includes Caitríona Ruane. Make of that what you will. In ictu oculi (talk) 14:26, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support per ongoing discussion to use reliable sources for spelling. See also this recent Rfc. As far as Pepe is concerned WP:STAGENAME is relevant enaugh to deviate from his original name (ie not a spelling issue). The other hyphen orientated rm's are in line with our MOS on Spanish names. Agathoclea (talk) 17:21, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- s per Agathoclea. Seems uncontroversial. Rd232 talk 18:16, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support per nom. HandsomeFella (talk) 17:43, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose - per tennis project, English sources, ITF, ATP. This person is notable for playing tennis and in English sources it is quite clear. This was just done recently so I'm guessing it's fair game to bring these move requests over and over again till the results change. Fyunck(click) (talk) 06:58, 22 June 2012 (UTC)
- Support; more accurate names. I cannot understand why some editors would like us to use the ITF as a benchmark of proper spelling when it is known that the ITF systematically strips diacritics from players' actual names. Why cite the "tennis project" when WP:TENNISNAMES was so broadly opposed? That looks like WP:IDIDNTHEARTHAT. bobrayner (talk) 10:21, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- Tennisnames was a different beast entirely. It was about a particular individual personal "Essay" that asked for ITF sourcing only, regardless of multitudes of other English sourcing. I simply go by wiki protocol and use all the English sourcing available. Fyunck(click) (talk) 18:15, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
