A time card in the film states "One Week Later", but Carl and Russell's trip to South America lasted no longer than three days.
Really? Are you just counting days and nights shown in the film, or travel time by balloon to and by dirigible from South America? It takes two days to drive from New Mexico to California (under the speed limit). More time could have elapsed during Carl's "nap" (it's uncertain how long he slept, since he's old), and we don't see how long it took to fly back.
