Requested move 1
[edit]Glasgow micropolitan area → Glasgow, Kentucky micropolitan area – Add state to form standard article title. Buaidh 14:32, 9 April 2013 (UTC)
Clarification: The preferred article title for micropolitan areas is the article title of the principal city with the lower-case words " micropolitan area" appended. Please see the List of metropolitan areas of the United States. Yours aye, Buaidh 17:38, 11 April 2013 (UTC)

The result of the move request was: pages moved. Miniapolis 14:29, 28 April 2013 (UTC)
- Glasgow micropolitan area → Glasgow, Kentucky micropolitan area
- Ontario micropolitan area → Ontario, Oregon micropolitan area
– To remove confusion with the better known city of Glasgow and the province, Ontario. Apteva (talk) 18:02, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Support both. Glasgow means Glasgow, Scotland as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, so Glasgow micropolitan area being an article about the area of Glasgow, Kentucky is totally disingenuous. Ontario is the Canadian province as WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, so to for Ontario micropolitan area to be about the area of Ontario, Oregon is, again, disingenuous. Zarcadia (talk) 21:03, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Support I had previously registered my support for both of these moves before they were consolidated. --BDD (talk) 21:22, 12 April 2013 (UTC)
- Support both both fail WP:AT, misleading title. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:19, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Support both should match parent article names -- 70.24.250.103 (talk) 05:30, 13 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose Glasgow micropolitan area is named after Glasgow, Kentucky, but isn't a subtopic. Similar situation with Newark wapentake and Newark-on-Trent, or Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia (U.S. state). Glasgow usually means the city in Scotland, but add "micropolitan area" and it doesn't. This is only likely to be misleading if placed out of context, such as in an April Fools DYK. Peter James (talk) 12:30, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- See also: Talk:Brunswick metropolitan area#Requested move; unlike "metropolitan", "micropolitan" appears to be specific to the US. Peter James (talk) 15:51, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose. Like at Talk:Vidalia micropolitan area, I can't find much in the way of sources that use either the current or the proposed titles. The current titles return only a few hits on Google Books that aren't Wikipedia ripoffs ("Glasgow micropolitan area" and "Ontario micropolitan area"), while the proposed titles return nothing[1][2] Unlike "metropolitan area", the "micropolitan areas" don't seem to have wide currency yet outside of government statistics. I'd suggest either considering what the OMB calls them, or sticking with the current titles as the simplest available descriptive titles.--Cúchullain t/c 17:39, 14 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose on trivial grammatical grounds. State names are properly set off with commas on both sides, so Glasgow, Kentucky, micropolitan area would be correct. I am Neutral on the proposal if it is changed to include the second commas. Powers T 14:04, 16 April 2013 (UTC)
- Every other article we have uses only one comma. With two commas it means you are talking about the micropolitan area called Glasgow. With one you are talking about the micropolitan area in Kentucky centered around Glasgow, which is, in fact, what we are. Apteva (talk) 08:44, 25 April 2013 (UTC)
