Suggestions
[edit]Great start, thanks. An obvious suggestion is to list the source(s) please. Also as per theHawaii manual of style, the appostrophes should instead be the {{okina}} template, and Kahakō should be used when appropriate. See the online Hawaiian dictionary for examples. But these are nits. Mahalo W Nowicki (talk) 04:02, 11 October 2009 (UTC)

- Can i point out that you have somehow confused the leatherback turtle (a reptile) with a fish of the genus Scomberoides (misspelled in the article). You list the name as Scombroides sancti-petri, and it incorrectly redirects to leatherback turtle. Further, Scomberoides sancti-petri is no longer accepted as a valid name, as it is a junior synonym of Scomberoides lysan (the doublespotted queenfish). You may want to recheck your list of scientific names, as i can see a few old and invalid names (eg Trachiurops crumenophthalmus is an invalid synonym of Selar crumenophthalmus) Kare Kare (talk) 00:55, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- No problem. I guess that's what happens when your main source is from '93. Could I possibly bug you to list the outdated names for me? - Drew Smith What I've done 20:42, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Just fixed a few things relating to the Carangidae... by the way you have 2 bigeye scad listings. I don't known the rest of the families off the top of my head though... maybe you could check at Fishbase? Could i also suggest you are missing two important Hawaiian gamefish... the giant trevally and bluefin trevally which are known as ulua in Hawaii. I have a feeling bluefin trevally are also known as omilu or blue ulua. GTs are either white ulua or black ulua and have a different name for juveniles... but be careful because a rarer species, the black jack is also known as the black ulua. Images
[edit]Is there any interest in moving the images into the table? Viriditas (talk) 11:01, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- IMO, no. Most of the fish in the table don't have images, so putting the few that do into the table would look tacky. But I'm open to suggestions though. - Drew Smith What I've done 00:08, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
- What percentage of entries lack photos or images? Most lists of this type place the images in the table. I think we can fill the majority of these entries with an image of some kind, but there is no requirement that we must have one. I don't see what is tacky about this. As a reader, I expect to find an image next to the data, not off to the side somewhere on the page. Viriditas (talk) 02:04, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
