Undiscussed page moves

[edit]

The title of this article has been changed from Order of battle for the Battle of Mosul (2016–17) to Order of battle at the Battle of Mosul (2016–2017), twice now. The renaming, in both directions, has been justified based on the Manual of Style, specifically MOS:DATERANGE. What that guideline says is that four-digit years are preferred, and having a four-digit year followed by a trailing two-digit year is an exception under specific circumstances. However, the guideline adds: "For consistency, avoid abbreviated year ranges when they would be used alongside non-abbreviated ranges within an article (or related pages, if in titles)." I take that to mean that articles should avoid having two-digit years in their titles, unless all related articles are named the same way. Consequently, I propose NOT moving this page again unless there is a strong consensus to name all other pages starting "Order of battle ..." in the same fashion. - Cameron Dewe (talk) 12:55, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
