Name

[edit]

Most recent sources seem to refer to the film as Piranha 3DD while only referring to it as Pirahna 3d: The Sequel back when it was first announced. Should it be moved to Piranha 3DD? Darkwarriorblake (talk) 23:29, 25 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The title was changed to Piranha 3D: The Sequel. One reason of course is Piranha 3DD is kinda ridiclous of a name. Rusted AutoParts (talk) 10:40 26 May 2011 (UTC)
Any source you can provide that says the title was changed? I'm about two seconds from moving this article to the correct name. —Mike Allen 04:13, 28 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not only the title is ridiclous ..... 188.105.205.175 (talk) 15:16, 4 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

However "ridiculous" the film is, it doesn't change the fact that the title is Piranha 3DD and NOT Piranha 3DD:The Sequel. However, I do think changing the title of a film to something other than it is, because you don't like it IS, ridiculous. Jellis 1975 (talk) 09:07, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Correct Categorization

[edit]

I think this article needs to be in a more specific category (sub-category) than just Category:Horror films. As you can see, the list of pages under Category:Horror films is quite small. Skeletonmandan (talk) 08:00, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Water park

[edit]

This source says the film takes place at "Big Wet Water Park". —Mike Allen 21:43, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That's the in-film name. Jungle Rapids is a real place. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 21:51, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wait, the premise says Wilderness Waters. Well I don't know then. I know the real place is Jungle Rapids, its mentioned across 2-3 sources. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 21:56, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I mean the in-film name. I'm thinking Big Wet Water Park is correct. —Mike Allen 22:06, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, the first link has photos with BIG WET in them so unless its a slide at the park I would've said thats it. Maybe it changed between the BD interview, or they just got it wrong. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 22:09, 2 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This appears to be about Panabakers character too:

Maddy will serve as the film's primary protagonist. She aspires to get out of her backwoods town in which she is derided by its denizens and aspire to become a marine biologist. As the daughter of the water park owner, she is the first to discover the fishy menace. To rid her home of the threat, she enlist the help of Barry a hacker with a heart of gold who waste his considerable intelligence and talent picking up others' trash.

Other characters include slutty sisters Ashley and Shelby. The first is the more promiscuous and sinister of the two. It was reported that she is featured in a scene which includes a gentleman caller, handcuffs, and a van being submerged in infested waters. The latter is described as more quiet and smart, but with the grand ambition of losing her virginity. Maddy's ex Kyle is said to be a womanizing local deputy with a knack for playing with girls' emotions.

Release date

[edit]

Does anyone have any info on the date? There seems to be no news on this lately but the image on this page has a standee of the film saying December 1, 2011. ANyone know if that is real? EDIT: I can't really remember, I'm sure this thing is very old, as it refers to it as Piranha 3dd: The sequel.Darkwarriorblake (talk) 16:59, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The stuff I'm finding confirms our Nov. 23 date in the lead but 1) they all also have an incorrect date for Apollo 18 (its 2012 release instead of the one it actually got) and 2) insomnia has reduced my google fu to level 1 so I may be missing something. Millahnna (talk) 17:36, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Considering this is due in just over 7 weeks, I'm starting to think its a bomb, I've not had any hard news on it since like June and that was from that local newspaper, Star Online. I'll leave the date as is, I may be wrong but I seem to recall that they rushed out some ads in 2010 for the sequel and I'm wondering if that is what that standee is. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 17:39, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And the last time I checked the official Facebook page people were outraged that no trailer had been released yet. It's out next month.. a trailer should have been out by now.. —Mike Allen 17:47, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually Star Online is now going with the Dec. 1 date (article published yesterday) but they're basing it off of speculation around a poster on the film's Facebook page which lists that date on the bottom. There's no indication of whether or not the image was an "official upload" or another fan made endeavor. Millahnna (talk) 18:13, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
This is the same image you meant in your first post isn't it? I'm going to try to sleep now. Jeebus. Millahnna (talk) 18:15, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep Millahanna. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 19:28, 4 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Piranha DD

[edit]

The article represents the theatrical release. This is how it is registered, how it is recorded across all the sites that record it, the BBFC, the MPAA, the Film Ratings board, AllRovi, BOM, RT, MC, whatever. ONE of hte home releases being called Piranha DD doesn't require the entire article shifting and I'm not quite clear on the thought process when the other releases are called Piranha 3DD but whatever. it is not the main title, it's not even an "also known as" because its hte same title minus the "3". It is something that should only be mentioned under the home media section. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 01:27, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Scream4Man refuses to discuss or listen to reason that a single DVD release doesn't override the theatrical release, the common name guideline or the REST of the home video releases which refer to it as 3DD. I've issued him two warnings for 3RR and inappropriate moving and requested protection for the article against moving until he learns how to discuss. Darkwarriorblake (talk) 02:49, 16 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Scream4Man, it is not also known as Piranha DD. You pointed me to Piranha 3D where you said it was called "Piranha D", this is not hte case. Read the Home Media section, it says that htey dropped the 3D part so people didn't buy the 2d version expecting 3D. That is the reasoning behind it. It is not a rename and it is not an also known as. Piranha 3DD is the name it has everywhere except the 2D home edition, so people don't pick it up thinking it will be in 3D.
