Chaser Nicknames

[edit]

Would we have to keep all chasers' nicknames on the international versions in this section, or are their real names on the table enough?!

Do other international versions (non UK) have nicknames for their Chasers?

If not then I would say no. 90.249.136.231 (talk) 17:46, 23 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Darragh Ennis

[edit]

Can we just make page for Darragh Ennis, in here, Wikipedia? Because the other Chasers does have their own page here, and not for Darragh, one of most successfully quizzer in UK...

There, would be great to add facts by his tv-shows and his scientist projects, as well the main facts and history, and so on... — Preceding unsigned comment added by 109.240.131.100 (talk) 12:21, 22 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Transmissions section (again)

[edit]

This section provides sources that show the premiere date of each season, but within the linked sources, there is no statement that the date listed as "end date" is the final episode of the season. The start date for following seasons also do not give a clear source for the number of episodes aired during the first season. Can anyone provide a source for either the episode count or the final episode within a season? AldezD (talk) 02:29, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I have found this:
http://shows.stv.tv/talk-tv/264100-the-500th-episode-of-the-chase-airs-on-valentines-day/
In my opinion, this would be the best thing to use. It provides a sourced number of episodes (like with the Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune articles, which are GAs) rather than updating the total every day. I am open to discussion and comments from others, but I believe adding this to the article would resolve this problem. --Bentvfan54321 (talk) 04:10, 24 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My recent edits

[edit]

I find it amusing that all of my recent attempts to improve the style and phrasing of the article were reverted by another editor using MoS and grammatical arguments when, in fact, most of them were improvements according to MoS and grammatical principles. For instance, when series are mentioned in articles the preferred style is "Season 1" not "season 1". They are treated as proper nouns and capitalised as such. Otherwise it should be "the first season" and so on. If any of my specific edits are clearly incorrect according to the MoS then fix them instead of just doing a mass revert. It is this kind of WP:OWN behaviour by some editors which causes unecessary conflict. Afterwriting (talk) 14:14, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Please review the edit you're referencing. It included spelling errors ("Thr" instead of "The"), unnecessary capitalization ("Series" vs. "series"), unnecessary quotation marks, and removed coding instead adding hard returns within individual bullets (the <br/> code is there to keep text on the following line aligned to the right of the bullet above). Additionally, there are several instances where changing words such as "leaves" to "leave" in your edit makes the sentence grammatically incorrect (e.g., your edit of "If the Chaser succeeds in catching the team before time runs out, the team loses the prize pot and leave empty-handed, but if the team are not caught by the Chaser the prize pot is split equally between the remaining team contestants."). In undoing your edit, I included an edit summary that addressed these issues. AldezD (talk) 14:52, 6 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

End dates

[edit]

How come there's an end date for the celeb specials but not the main ones? Shouldn't they be readded? Unreal7 (talk) 19:07, 3 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The number of episodes needs to change from 915 to 910. 2A02:C7D:B394:3800:E892:3F93:3C57:16B8 (talk) 21:09, 7 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Creators of The Chase

[edit]

Please do not add non-WP:V information about the creators of this article. If these individuals are creators, a WP:V source needs to accompany an edit adding them to the infobox. AldezD (talk) 13:48, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For 7 years, the Creators section of the page listed Amanda Wilson, Elliot Johnson, Matt Pritchard, Chris Gepp, Danny Carvalho and Pete Faherty. The page for the Australian version of the show lists them as such and this is how they were credited on the end credits of the programme for many years, as well as other trusted sites, such as UKGameshows.com. In June 2017, the page was altered to read 'ITV Studios, Chris Gepp, Michael Kelpie' This is misleading as Michael Kelpie was part of ITV Studios at the time and therefore it is misleading for him to have a separate listing. The listing should be changed to revert to the original list as per pre-2016, or all the significant creatives involved in the origination of the format and subsequent programme should be listed, ie, Amanda Wilson, Elliot Johnson, Matt Pritchard, Danny Carvalho, Pete Faherty, Chris Gepp, Sue Allison (as the original Series Producer) and Michael Kelpie (as Exec Producer). Feelgoodbingo (talk) 15:04, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Can you provide Reliable Sources for the changes? Also, can you confirm how you know this information? Do you have any connection, directly or indirectly, with the show, it's contributors, sponsors or any employees? Exemplo347 (talk) 15:07, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I know one of the creators named above but do not work on the programme. Can you explain how the original change was allowed? Their names should never have been deleted in the first place. Look on http://ukgameshows.com/ukgs/The_Chase This is a very reliable source for the creators of the programme. (Feelgoodbingo (talk) 13:42, 15 January 2017 (UTC))[reply]

This does not address WP:V, which is required for the change you are suggesting. Also, ukgameshows.com is not a source that meets WP:V. AldezD (talk) 16:45, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

But that does not address my original point of why it was changed in the first place. For 7 years, the correct creators were listed. Why was this allowed to be changed last year? What sources did they provide? (Feelgoodbingo (talk) 17:50, 15 January 2017 (UTC)) Look at this clip https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VrkQPC3XiXQ It's an early episode clearly listing the creators/devisers — Preceding unsigned comment added by Feelgoodbingo (talkcontribs) 17:57, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Clip can be used along with Template:Cite episode as a source, but please do not include the link to Youtube per WP:YT. At 44:24 the following names are listed in the category "Devised by": Carvalho, Faherty, Gepp, Johnson, Pritchard and Wilson. Kelpie is listed as an Executive Producer and Sue Allison as Series Producer, but neither are listed within the Devised by heading. The main site for The Chase at ITV does not list Kelpie nor Allison as a creator. AldezD (talk) 19:25, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Great. Sorry, I don't know how to add that as a source. I think the best thing is to exclude Kelpie and Allison as creators and list Carvalho, Faherty, Gepp, Johnson, Pritchard and Wilson. f I add them, can you add the source for me? Thanks (Feelgoodbingo (talk) 19:53, 15 January 2017 (UTC))[reply]

Read through the text at Template:Cite episode, and specifically, the examples and parameters to get a good understanding of what info to include. I would recommend making your best attempt at adding the information (inside the <ref></ref> parameters, similar to how other references are coded) and then we can work together regarding any additional cleanup afterward. As you edit more articles you'll become more familiar with standard procedures like this one and editing will be easier as time passes. Enjoy! AldezD (talk) 23:41, 15 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Feelgoodbingo, good attempt at using Cite episode. You may want to take a look at the guideline page and the examples section as well. Those details will help you become more familiar with the fields which are necessary in the Cite episode template. When text is entered into those fields, the result is formatted in a specific way within the The Chase (UK game show)#References section (in this case, the new reference is numbered 1 in the References section). Infobox episode count

[edit]

Please stop changing the episode count in the infobox without providing a source that meets WP:V. The count of 1,000 episodes as of 29 September 2016 is accurate based upon the linked reference. AldezD (talk) 14:50, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Jenny Ryan

[edit]

question: is Jenny Ryan exclusive to the celebrity specials (that is, seen if not exactly featured in most of them)? As far as I can tell, she seems to be... Visokor (talk) 10:11, 28 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

App update

[edit]

As per this website, Barnstorm Games released a major update to The Chase app. It features all five Chasers, commentary from Bradley Walsh, the ability to take a selfie in the app, and multiplayer mode where one player plays as the Chaser while the others play as the contestants. Should this update be mentioned in the article? TheSecondLugia (talk) 16:39, 20 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Reasons For Cancelled Episodes

[edit]

Please put dates when episodes were cancelled up for consideration and the reasons that these episodes were cancelled on their originally scheduled air date. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dan Gallagher (talkcontribs) v (UTC)

You need to present more than just a date. You also need to include WP:V evidence. AldezD (talk) 21:49, 1 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Episode lists

[edit]

@User:Dave Harton, please stop adding episode lists to this article. This has been discussed ad nauseam:

AldezD (talk) 18:51, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support removal - Had I paid a bit more attention I would've removed this myself - We don't need a list of every single player and the money etc for ALL episodes this year .... it's FANCRUFT and should obviously be removed accordingly. –Davey2010Talk 18:54, 11 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Israeli chasers

[edit]

There is obviously more than one chaser in the Israeli version: [1]. I do not understand a single word, but the one wearing glasses seems to be called something like Yakobi (which I find quite funny, as one of our German chasers is called Sebastian Jacoby). --slg (talk) 13:06, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

He seems to appear in only two of the thumbnails, and the description [translated] on the YT videos say that these are sport specials and call him the 'Sports Chaser'. -- AxG /   13:21, 27 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

What do you think about an individual article to the german Game show?

[edit]

Hello, I have the wish to write an article for the english wikipedia which deals with the German pendant (Gefragt - Gejagt) in details. One of my reasons is, to save the German logo of the show (with reduced resolution), provided with the american/english license {{Non-free logo|image has rationale=yes}} . Please tell me your oppinion here. Best wishes from Berlin. 44Pinguine (talk) 18:18, 21 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Vikram Barn in the 'Chasers' section

[edit]

So far all the reversals for including Vikram Barn in the chaser section appear to only be rejected based on the lack of reliable sources. Once that criteria has met would he be included in the proper 'Chasers' section or just relegated to the specials subsection? If the latter then surely Issa Schultz should also only be relegated to a specific specials subsection considering they only appeared in a single special. Regardless of which outcome is decided it should be at least based on keeping the article consistent rather than the current inconsistent state.

Thanks :) Ciggybloke (talk) 21:56, 11 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Issa Schultz appeared for the entirety of Season 5 of Beat The Chasers when Anne Hegerty tested positive for Covid that year, thus why he's listed in the Chasers section as a guest, but not listed in the Infobox as he was only a 'Guest Chaser'. Coastie43 (talk) 03:39, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
