Merge Request with Draft:Turtle_Tank_Destroyer_(T-72/T-90_Variant)
[edit]That article came first, and covers/will cover ALL of the Turtle Tank variants, such as the Tsar Mangal, or the older variants like the Blyatmobile, Tsar's Barbeque, and War Shed. As well as probably mentioning the Cope Cages that they evolved from. TheBrodsterBoy (talk) 04:02, 14 May 2024 (UTC)
- oppose Nowhere to merge. There is no such thing "Turtle Tank Destroyer". - Altenmann >talk 04:28, 14 May 2024 (UTC)

Merge with Turtle Tank
[edit]Are these not the same thing? Aszx5000 (talk) 12:33, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
That page already redirects to this one. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 17:21, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
Actually, Aszx5000 had in mind the page Turtle tank, which I redirected here, because it adds nothing to the content. it also had a bunch of other ext links, and if someone is willing, they can sift through them for extra tidbits (no sense in a simple extra refbombing), but just the same one may search google for more recent developments.- Altenmann >talk 17:27, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Tsar Mangal → Turtle Tank – On behalf of DojoIrl, see below - Altenmann >talk 22:23, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
Nobody in the English speaking world calls these abominations "Tsar Mangal". I propose this article gets renamed to what everyone is calling them now: Turtle Tank. DojoIrl (talk) 22:15, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- False]. Anyway, this is a proper name, albeit jokular. We do not translate proper names, - Altenmann >talk 22:20, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- We do, however, use common names, per WP:COMMONTERM:
Wikipedia does not necessarily use the subject's official name as an article title; it generally prefers the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable, English-language sources) as such names will usually best fit the five criteria listed above.
and in that context there's no question -- overwhelmingly "Turtle Tank" is the more common name -- 37.5 million non-Wikipedia results, compared to Tsar Mangal's 137,000 non-Wikipedia results. Further, Google Trends shows that in the past year (since June 2023), only 4 people have searched for Tsar Mangal (all of which came during the week of Mar. 10, 2024), while Turtle Tank averages between 75-100 searches daily. Tsar Mangal fails both the "Recognizability" and "Naturalness" requirements of our naming conventions. - We should move/rename to Turtle Tank. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 23:55, 25 June 2024 (UTC)
- Support renaming, maybe you are right. Where do you check the numbers of requests? Never heard of. - Altenmann >talk 00:01, 26 June 2024 (UTC)

- Support Turtle Tank seems to be the most common name in english with assault shed being the meme name.©Geni (talk) 22:50, 30 June 2024 (UTC)
Turtle Tank --> Turtle tank?
[edit]I think this should be relatively uncontroversial of a page move, but per WP:CAPITALIZATION we should probably actually have named this Turtle tank, as it's not a proper name, title of a work, organism, or foreign language expression. Unless there's any significant objection to that, I'll clean up the existing redirect and move this page to match. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 20:36, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- For me it looks like a proper name, not just an adjective, and it is not like a tank model. And even with models I see there is no consistency: we have Black Prince (tank) and Excelsior tank and T-70. I would suggest Turtle (tank)- Altenmann >talk 22:39, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- If it's a proper name, we should be able to point to where it's defined officially as such (both Black Prince and Excelsior were explicitly named such in their nomenclature; T-70 is a single word and does not have anything to capitalize beyond the first letter which is already automatically capitalized); in contrast, this is a nickname with no official formal definition. Turtle (tank) would be inappropriate as nobody is referring to the tank simply as "turtle" and thus necessitating a disambiguation. ⇒SWATJester Shoot Blues, Tell VileRat! 23:08, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
