Complexity

[edit]

I think this diagram is becoming too complex, and the article may be better served with an actual map. Useddenim (talk)

Complex it is: navigation, water flow, lock scheme, third lock plan. Still, as a scheme, it is smart. And, of course, it is the actual map. -DePiep (talk) 01:51, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
It's the Panama Canal, sir. Not just a railway line (though the rail only has four sations, today!). These hubs are ports (as any harbour this great will be). See also: Template:Suez Canal map. -DePiep (talk) 02:36, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I know; I've been there, done that, and swum in Gatun Lake. I just think that if you're going to put that much detail in, an annotated map would be more appropriate and accurate than a overly-complex diagram (which is really only intended to show a basic schematic representation). These annotations could go on a verbose legend, describing the systems (I listed above). Could not find the right BS-template. -DePiep (talk) 15:06, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Template not needed, just add it to the diagram. From Wikipedia:Route diagram template#Tips:

“If an unusual situation requires using a current icon unconventionally, give an explanation either by the text level with the icon or by a note at the top or bottom of the map, separated by an empty row or border line, showing the "misused" icon and its meaning.”

Please get me right. This is not about a misunderstood icon, as your quote suggests. I am looking for a BS* template, that allows us to add free text to the bottom of this BS-based template. Over all, current, 10 colums. -DePiep (talk) 20:12, 23 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Use {{BS-colspan}}—that's how I inserted the horizontal rule (<hr>). Useddenim (talk) 04:24, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Will play in the sandbox first. -DePiep (talk) 20:21, 24 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A verbose legend

[edit]

I am working towards a "verbose" (wordly) legend. Asked support here. -DePiep (talk) 22:41, 4 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please define “wordly”. (I couldn’t find it in any dictionary.) Useddenim (talk) 03:44, 5 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Corozal passenger terminal

[edit]

It seems to be missing. VanIsaacWS Vexcontribs 04:31, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
